Our members help sustain the Jacksonville Historical Society and now, more than ever, we are dependent on financial help from our friends and supporters.
The Jacksonville Historical Society’s mission is to educate and inspire the greater Jacksonville community to value its history by fostering understanding of how the region’s past shapes our present. We cannot fulfill our mission without funding and, due to the Coronavirus pandemic, our monthly fundraising efforts have been cancelled and our major fundraiser, the Gingerbread Extravaganza, is also in jeopardy of taking place in December.
Even during these times, it’s important to remember the value of history is two-fold. Historical knowledge strengthens citizenship, and historic preservation strengthens economic growth, which has been severely undercut by the pandemic. That is why, after 90 years, the Jacksonville Historical Society remains a relevant part of the history being made today.
