A brief history of 20th Century guitar in Jacksonville, Florida

In recognition of International Guitar Month (it’s an actual thing), please join the Jacksonville Historical Society on April 14 for our Speaker Series program on the history of the guitar in 20th Century Jacksonville. The guitar matters, because over the past century-plus, this city has been home to and produced a tsunami of great guitar players. Jacksonville musician Eddy Cotton will perform and discuss selected guitar music out of which Jacksonville’s music culture has evolved and grown. Cotton is a well-known Jacksonville guitar performer, songwriter, band leader, music educator and history advocate.

Local musician Eddy Cotton will share the historical context of vintage guitars and accessories on display as he plays era- and genre-specific songs, sharing how guitars, players and styles shaped his life and career as a regional performer and musical historian.

Social Hour /Meet & Greet begins at 6 p.m. Program begins at 7 p.m.
Jacksonville Historical Society Members are free of charge; RSVP to communications@jaxhistory.org no later than April 11, but the earlier the better. Seats are limited.
